Steppe Nomads

The Steppe Nomads are a scattered network of clans roaming the wide, wind-scarred plains beyond the megacities—riders, traders and engineers who’ve carved out a way of life far from the Regime’s reach. Their culture blends old pastoral traditions with salvaged tech, orbital data, and the steady trickle of contraband from offworld contacts.

Day to day, their lives are practical and rugged. Turbine crews move in teams, scaling and repairing the towering wind farms scattered across the steppe. Herding families drive their horses and livestock across endless grasslands. Traders and caravans thread between settlements, outposts, and hidden encampments beyond the megacities, carrying exotic goods and vital information.

To the cities, they’re anachronisms—out of step with the bureaucratic order and too diffuse to properly monitor. But the Nomads know the borderlands better than anyone. Many quietly feed intelligence to the Resistance, smuggle supplies through forgotten routes, or shelter fugitives in their roaming encampments. They aren’t rebels by doctrine; they’re simply people who understand the value of life lived ungoverned and the price paid when others lose that freedom.
