The Dover Scavs
The Dover Scavs — Faction Bible (working title)
Salvagers of the drowned coast. Part pirate, part monk, part mechanic — reading the past out of the wreckage.
Symbol & Logo
A ship’s prow cutting a thin waterline — sharp geometric bow, stippled hull, woodcut white-on-black. Salvage made sacred: the coast as creed, the wreck as scripture.
Secondary marks used among the tribes (kept in dover-scav-logos/): a cracked AI core worn as relic, a sonar bloom, a brow-mounted neural chip, a weld seam joining hull plates. The prow is the shared banner; the others are the coast’s dialects.
Status: logo established.
Overview
Tribes of salvagers who inhabit the Colossus Cliffs of Dover, a rusting coastline where ancient ships and orbital wreckage pile into metallic canyons. The name is old — older than anyone can quite account for, a word worn smooth by a world that ended. They live off what the old high world left behind, and they treat that scavenging as something closer to devotion than trade.
Culture
Circuit tattoos, myths of the sea “remembering the old world,” and songs made from sonar. Their relationship to the past is reverent, almost liturgical — the wreckage is scripture as much as salvage.
Technology
Exosuits patched from ship hulls; neural helmets crafted from broken AI cores. They wear the dead machines of the old world and hear them, after a fashion.
Tone
Romantic scavengers — part pirate, part monk, part mechanic.
Open Threads (to expand)
- Orbital wreckage on the coast implies things fell from the sky — ruined colonies, dead stations, the debris of that second reach into the dark. What came down here, and when?
- The sea “remembering the old world” — is that pure folklore, or a real echo (data-ghosts, drowned networks, a psionic residue in the water)?
- Those neural helmets from broken AI cores — do the Scavs hear fragments of dead machine minds? Is that wisdom, madness, or both? Does it connect them to the Accumulators or the Machine Folk Gods?
- Are they one people or many rival tribes sharing a coast? Who do they trade their salvage to — smugglers, the Steppe Nomads, the Regime?
- What would the Regime want from a coast full of old-world AI cores and orbital debris?
